Columbia Pictures is developing a third installment of the “Bad Boys” franchise. The studio hopes to have a script that would reunite director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The first “Bad Boys” was released in 1995 and grossed $66 million domestically and $141 million worldwide. The 2003 sequel grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million worldwide.
Martin Lawrence visited Conan last night to promote his new FX show “Partners,” co-starring Kelsey Grammer, and was asked by Conan O’Brien about Bad Boys 3. O’Brien said he had heard a rumor there would be a third film and if it was possible.
Lawrence answered: “I believe so, yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer… yesterday and he said its real. Theyre working on the script, theyre getting close and it all looks good.” You can check out the video segment below and jump ahead to the 3:15 mark for the quote.
